The Amazon Cooperation Council (CCA) is the meeting of high-level diplomatic representatives of the Treaty Signatory Parties and, pursuant to Article XXI, is assigned with the following duties:

  • To ensure compliance with the Treaty objectives and purposes;
  • To ensure compliance with decisions made in the meetings of Ministers of Foreign Affairs;
  • To recommend to the Country Members the relevance or timeliness of holding meetings of Ministers of Foreign Affairs and prepare the corresponding agenda;
  • To analyze initiatives and projects submitted by its Country Members, and adopt the corresponding decisions towards carrying out surveys and bilateral and multilateral projects to be executed by the Permanent National Commissions, whenever suitable;
  • To assess the progress of relevant bilateral or multilateral projects;
  • To adopt its working rules.
